I think her career is interesting because she takes photos of famous celebrities and gets the to wok with her to create the best image possible.
My favorite photo of hers is Yoko Ono in Central Park because you have to look deep into the photo and it has nature.
This shows how small people are and sort of gives a dark feeling.

Unknown said...

I think it is really cool how many amazing people has met and how she has photographed them in an artistic way

My favorite photo is of Martina Navratilova

I think that she expresses expressive features in the photo by making him and the gear together drawing the eye to the gear first then the man.

Unknown said...

What I found interesting is that she was never taught lighting in school and that she was totally self taught on that after the magazines started printing in color.

My favorite photo of hers is of Leonardo Dicaprio. Its in black and white he has a swan draped around his shoulders I find that that photo captures who Leonardo really is. All the roles he plays are all set back in history and I feel black and white embodies that.

Unknown said...

1.) I find that the different opportunities that are given to her for photos are pretty interesting, like the one where she had to take a nude shot.
2.) My favorite photo of her is where she put roses on a bed of Bette Midler because the set up was great and the colors and tones add up perfectly.

Unknown said...

What i found interesting about her carreer was that she started as a painter and ended up loving photography. and then through that she is one of the biggest photographers there is which really shows that if you love something then follow ur dreams.

My favorite photo from her is of Johnny Depp sitting in a chair in a beat up room, i think it has a really rugged feel to it and is kind of dark which looks cool.

I think the expressive features such as the lighting and the difference in color he is wearing and the yellow in the background really express how dark of a photo it is and who he kind of is and the characters her portrays in most of his movies.

Anonymous said...

I think her career is interesting because she gets to meet a lot of people and photograph them. Also she kind of learned a lot of photography things on her own and taught herself how to do a lot of things in photography.
My favorite photo is the one of Susan Sontag because of the dark colors and it focuses on her with the background blurred out.
It demonstrates expressive features and perspectives because it doesn't look like the photo was set up but I think she actually was posing for the camera.

i find it interesting that she gets to do what she loves for a living and meet all of those famous people.

my favorite photo is probably the one of yoko ono in central park because i didn't even notice the person at first until i looked closer and i like that it makes you look deeper into the photo.

this photo has high contrast to make the scene more dramatic and can be viewed to have a variety of different meanings depending on your interpretation

What do you find most interesting about her career?

The thing I find that is most interesting about her career is how she started so young and when she was in Japan. Also that she gets to work with a lot of famous people and get to take their photo.

What is your favorite photo and why?

One of my favorite photos that she took was Yoko Ono in Central Park. I really like this photo because it is not too boring or too much in one photo. The tree has branches that are going out everywhere which makes it interesting. And the person leaning on the tree isn't competing for being the focal point. I like that there isn't harsh light and I like that it look natural. The tree has nice shadows underneath and behind that are enhancing the photo which I like.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?

It demonstrates expressive features and perspective because it has a darker filter which expresses to the person looking at the photo that it is a sad. The person leaning against the tree you can't see their face clearly. The perspective could be from someone walking by seeing that.

I find interesting how much effort and time she actually put in this. I am surprised a person can even pursue this kinda of ideal living of work.
I loved the photo with Nicole Kidman because see looks so stunning in that dress in that angle. How the lights capture it and also how it has that little bit of darkness is really good.
It is very exppresive because of the type of filters and lighting she has. For example the darker photos with black and white seem sadder. Compared to the photo took with Betty Midler in the pile of roses seems very romantic and fun. You can feel everything in the photos because it is as if she brings you to that exact moment.

What I find most interesting about her career is that all you pictures she had the celebrities pose for but she was able to do it in a way that everyone looked natural. No one looked out of place of like they were just posing for a picture, all the pictures she took the celebrates looked at home.

What is your favorite photo why?

My favorite photo is the one of the person standing in front of the tree. I like this picture because it is out in nature. I also like it because at first it is hard to see the focal point because he kind of blends into the tree but after looking for a couple seconds it is really easy to see him. Also the contrast of the dark background to the bright building is really amazing.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?

In my favorite picture the way that Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features is mainly through color. The dark background and the dark clothes she dressed the celebrity makes it so that the celebrity really blends into the rest of the picture and shows a small or shy person who you don't really see.

Annie Leibovitz is so fascinating, she put the word art in photography. She saw different aspects in photography to make a photograph great and one of a kind. Her unique photos allowed everyone to love he and to be so successful in her career. I loved her John lennen photo because it was such a different almost had an uncomfortable feel that made it have so much meaning. It means so much more because he died shortly after that was taken. But I thin it expressed how love can be conservative and risky at the same time. It gave people a different perspective on art and photography. She made it different and unique.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective? Annie uses the white paint to give the photo some character. The paint gives the photo different features and a different feeling then just a face. The way the subject is pulling on her face creates a perspective. People may wonder why she has chosen to do that.

I think it's interesting how she started her career at Rolling Stone when everything was still in black a white, I think it's fascinating to see someone who saw how something started and was there from the get-go.

My favorite photo of hers is the one of Whoopie Goldberg, the contrast i very pleasing to the eye and it showcases a side of Whoopie that seems so intimate and personal. I feel this photo was her best because it feels so natural and beautiful in a way not shown very often.

She very expertly highlights Whoopie in such a gorgeous setting with fantastic lighting, and everything seems so perfect. You almost expect her subject to be much the same, an expression that fits the tone, somber and perfect. But Whoopie's expression is anything but, it makes the photo seem so much more special and lighthearted because of it.

Unknown said...

What I find most interesting about her career is how fast she learned about photography and how she mastered it within a short period of time. Once she photographed one famous person the list kept on going from there.

It demonstrates expressive features by having a lot of contrast between the red and white stripes in the board and ball, but makes the outside world very dull and grey.

How does your favorite photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective.
The photo demonstrates expressive features because she is being so serious while pretending to peel off her face it is confusing yet very intriguing. It also shows perspective because it makes you look at her a completely different way. It makes her look very confident in this photo even though she has a bunch of makeup on.

Anonymous said...

What do you find most interesting about her career?
I think that the most interesting part of her career was that she was the founding editor of the Rolling Stone. The Rolling Stone is very well known so it would be crazy to me to be the founding editor of that magazine.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo is the one taken of Nicole Kidman because the lighting and details in the picture are amazing. You can see the rays of light coming down which really makes it unique. The color of her dress also really compliments everything in the background.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
The photo demonstrates expressive features because she it doesn't seem as if Nicole Kidman is posing for a camera. She is almost in her natural stance. There is also a contrast between her gray, sparkly dress and the yellows and browns in the background. This makes Nicole Kidman the focal point of the picture. The viewers eyes are drawn to Kidman also because the rule of thirds is being applied in this photo. This photo also demonstrates perspective because you can view the pictures in different ways. Some may think she was posing for the picture, but others may think it was her in her natural pose and environment.

The expressive features are contributed by the good use of lighting and colors incorporated in the pictures.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
I think it is so cool that when they started printing in color she learned by herself how to adjust to lighting. We rely so heavily on other people to tell us things and this knowledge lead right into a beautiful career. The coolest part of the career is getting to travel and meet different celebrities and having mini photoshoots with them.

What is your favorite photo and why?
I personally am not a huge fan of her photos but I do like the rose picture of Betty Midler. I think this picture has a really cute pose and the subject doesn't look caked up. I also like the black outfit because it acts as a nice base compared to the roses. When I first saw this picture my eyes saw the roses.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
This picture has a really nice contrast between red and green. The perspective looks like a view from the ceiling looking down and the picture is the perfect lightness and highlights her skin tone very well.

@CalvinD
I totally agree with you, I never thought that he was supposed to match the land I just thought it was kind of gross and moved on. I feel like it would look cooler if the lighting wasn't so awkward and he was laying against the ground. I also noticed that he is doing the tree pose, a natural yoga pose, to show his tranquility.

Anonymous said...

@Isabel V
I agree that she looks serious, maybe the meaning behind this photo is about the mask that she puts up for people and she's getting ready to peel it off. Her hair also adds to that because no one's hair has the wind blowing in it like that, it shows the perfect persona she created.

Unknown said...

I think that she is amazing for being self taught. He pictures are amazing the way she brings life and color and her soul into her pictures even if the are as simple as a tree in a field. The way she sets up her pictures of all the famous actors/ actresses shows how much thought she puts into her photos.

What is your favorite photo and why?
- Mikhail Baryshnikov, mostly because of the definition you can see in his muscles and veins, shows a lot of pin point details in the human body.
How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
- This demonstrates how changing from color to black and white can make a photo more interesting and defined, as well as making the angle plus the subject stay in one pose, it makes it more interesting from a expressive and perspective p.o.v.

@Nikki B

I agree with you that its amazing that she is fully self taught, having the ability to learn the art of photography all by herself is amazing. Not only that but she has advanced her career so much that her photos are astonishing, and good to look at knowing she does in fact put tons of thought into the photos outcome.

Unknown said...

@Gracie R

I fully agree with you on your perspective of her photos, the way she takes them makes it look as if she just took the photo without anyone knowing. The naturally with her photos is what makes them so unique and outstanding, overall her photos just look natural because of her skill with taking human photos.

She began as a painter before taking an interest in photography.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
I find most interesting about her career that Annie Leibovitz first was a painter, not always a photographer, yet she became one of the best. I bet her artistic abilities from her painting carried over to her photos.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo is the last one, of Nicole Kidman in a ball gown. This one is my favorite because the dress is so beautiful and flowy. Also, the lights in the background reflect of and shine on Nicole making her look fabulous.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
My favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrates expressive features and perspective in shape, light, and angle. First, the shape and flow of the dress contrast with the flow of the curtains which give the photo a pleasing touch. Second, the light in the background catches your eye and reflects nicely off of Nicole, making her the center of attention. Last, the angle and location of the photo make it look like you are admiring Nicole in the audience, off of the stage.

@Joshua F
I like the way that you interpret photos. I never thought about the photo that is your favorite as resembling social struggle. Now that you explain it, it makes sense. Have you ever thought about it showing that she is aging? With the pale and loose skin, it seems as though she is pointing out her old features.

Anonymous said...

@Alexa J.
I agree that we rely on others to tell us what to do too often. I like how you connected it to Annie Leibovitz. Maybe by teaching herself, she took photos unlike anyone else, which made her the best! We should try to teach ourselves something new and see if we have success just like her!

1.) What I find most interesting about her career is the fact that she quickly learned how to take compelling photos that attracted many magazine cover pages and many celebrities. I love how she wasn't originally going to school for photography but she picked up interest in it later and became world renowned for her photos.

2.) My favorite photo she has taken is the one of Nicole Kidman because I love how compelling it is and the way the lights have such a dramatic effect on Nicole to enhance the photo. I love how the color and shapes all draw the eye to Nicole as the main subject in the photo.

3.) The photo of Nicole Kidman shows expressive features and perspective by the dramatic effects of the lights and how the colors all coordinate to create this compelling photo. It put perspective on who Nicole is in the world and how people see her in the center of spotlight. Annie did an amazing job creating these photos with a creative eye to enhance the celebrity or show how the world sees someone.

Anonymous said...

@Jenna H

I do agree with you on the beauty of the photo, it really is such a compelling photo. I do have to say the creative mind that had to be used to create that photo had to be active because that's not an easy photo to come up with, with the layout and structure of the colors being used and the props or setting of the photo.

I also agree on what you said about her career, it is truly amazing how she is able to photograph these celebrities and put the perspective on how we see them from the outside looking in.

Anonymous said...

@Joshua F

I like how you interpreted the Meryl Streep photo because now that you've said it, I can see the main point in that photo. It makes sense how societal pressures can change who you are, as we've seen with so many celebrities.

I do have to agree that the way this photo is taken is amazing and the color, shape, and direction of the photo brings us to the realization of the theme or topic the photo is portraying.

Anonymous said...

@Rachel S

I completely agree with everything you have said. It is so true that travel is a great way for inspiration for photography, capturing colors, shapes and different architecture you don't get to see on a daily basis at home.

I do think that photo is complex and definitely shows her in her natural environment. I love all the details in the shape and lines that connects you to Nicole Kidman, it truly shows her life in just one photo.

I find it interesting the she was a painter who decided to come into the fine work of

Anonymous said...

@Gracie R I agree with you! All the colors contrasting add a lot of flavor and mood.

Unknown said...

What do you find most interesting about her career?
The thing about her career that I found the most interesting is that she wasn't originally planning on becoming a photographer.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo was the portrait of Whoopi Goldberg. I love the contrast between her beautiful deep skin and the light bubbles in the bath. I also just love the happy, silly and fun mood that the elements in the photo create.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
Her smile while sticking her tongue out makes the photo creates a warm feeling, that invites you to look at all of the aspects incorporated into the image. Her facial expression shows a lot of personality and without that, the photograph would feel like it's missing something. As for perspective, because the photo was taken from above, it creates more leading lines that move your eyes around the picture. Also due to the perspective, not her entire body is shown, which causes certain body parts to be highlighted for a purpose.

Anonymous said...

What did you find most interesting about her career?
What I found most interesting about her career was how she was so passionate about taking photos of celebrities also how she taught herself to take photos in color because that was probably really difficult to learn all about color.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo was Nicole Kidman because the photo shows grace and class.It made me want to be in the dress and stand up there with her because of how proud she was in herself. This photo just showed straight up girl power for me because of how proud she was standing and also even though girls wear nice things like dresses we can still be powerful.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
My favorite photo of Annie Leibovitz shows expressive features and perspective because of her dress, the lights in the background, and her posture. Her dress just shows pure elegance and grace. The lights make her seem like the spotlight of everything and makes her glow and be the main focal point. Her posture makes her seem like a powerful strong women that no one should really mess with. The perspective that this photo gives is that girls may seem elegant and stunning, but we are powerful and can keep up with guys too.

Anonymous said...

What did you find most interesting about her career?
I think it was really great she was able to take such amazing pictures, while being self taught. It shows a lot about her as a person because her pictures were filtered from expectations and gave reality in its finest form.

What is your favorite picture and why?
I like Mikhail B. because it kind of takes away some masculinity portrayed in men and gave a different perspective.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
It adds emphasis on the mans muscles, but puts him in a position that a ballerina would be found in. It is a simple photo but the colors and depth create emphasis on his dominant features. It is simple and complex at the same time.

Unknown said...

I found it interesting that she went into college thinking she wanted to be a painter, but then chose photography, which has a lot of differences. My favorite photo is of William S. Burroughs, because you can see all the details in his face. She demonstrated expressive features by focussing on his eyes and creating a solemn look through his eyes.

I found it interesting that her surroundings helped her hone on her skills. She enjoyed where she was and used her life and events for that talent.

My favorite photo she captured was of William S. Burroughs because the way the shadows affected him and also it captured a humble and sweet side to his old age.

It adds kind of a story to William. It creates a mood of warmth and loneliness but adds emphasis to his wrinkles to portray is old age.

I find it interesting that she has photographed so much famous people and significant figures in human history, my favorite photo of her is of Nelson Mandela, very dark tone and really brings out a lot of features on his face. Her photo also was shot 2 days before he was released from prison back in 1990, so it shows the hope he has of getting out of prison.

What do you find most interesting about her career?

I found it interesting that Leibovitz had to teach herself some fundamental elements of photography, namely color, as when she learned about photography, this was not a factor that needed to be considered.

What is your favorite photo and why?

My favorite of the photos was Yoko Ono in Central Park, primarily because of its simplicity. The focus of the image is a singular tree, which at first glance doesn't seem to be especially unique or important. However, this is the idea of the photo. The tree appears to be just like the others, yet it stands apart from them in isolation.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?

This picture demonstrates Leibovitz' excellent use of contrast, as the tree that is the focal point contrasts with the white sky behind it quite well, while the line between the sky and the trees in the background is more blurred.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
- I thought that it was interesting how she approached this big name and he automatically gave her a big project that was on the front of a magazine. I find it amazing that she started out with so much success. I also found it interesting and amazing that The Library of Congress calls her a living legend.
What is your favorite photo and why?
- My favorite picture was the one of Nicole Kidman. I liked this one the best because of the fog that was present behind her and how she captured the light coming through the windows. I also liked the gold and warm tones of the photo.
How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
-The is a contrast between the warm tones and the light grey color of Kidman's dress. This adds in perspective and the features that your eye is drawn to. She stands out from her back ground and still makes her the focal points with all the add ins in the background of the photo.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
I find it very interesting how she didn't have education on colored photos and how to take them, only black and white. I find that very admirable because with hard persistence you can accomplish anything even if you don't have the proper education for it.
What is your favorite photo and why?
I like the Whoopi Goldberg photo because the contrast of colors really make Whoopi pop. This ultimately brings out her radiant personality also.
How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
The black surrounded by white really captures Whoopi's personality: an inspirational and successful figure who is always smiling. I also think it has a deeper perspective, the black surrounded by white represents Whoopi being a successful black figure in a community full of white folk and I think it's super cool how Annie Leibovitz captured that.

I think the most interesting thing about her career is that she is named a living legend by The Library of Congress, because you have to do some pretty monumental stuff to be called that.

My favorite photo is definitley the one of Whoopi Goldberg, just because it's so different from other photos that you see. It's just so different.

It demonstrates expressive features mostly through Whoopi's face, she looks like she's very much enjoying her milk bath, and it makes me smile.

1. What do you find most interesting about her career?
I think it was interesting that her very first project was to shoot John Lennon. She started out almost immediately by getting her photo printed as the cover of a magazine, which is quite a way to kickstart a career.
2. What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo is Nicole Kidman's portrait. It was the most visually interesting photo to me, and the setting of the photo allows for some interesting composition.
3. How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
The light from behind gives off a kind of halo effect to Nicole Kidman. She follows the rule of thirds as well, having the edge of the stage match the bottom horizontal line of the 9 square grid and Kidman on the right vertical line. The bright stage lights wash out the background but keep Kidman in detail so that the photo isn't cluttered with detail.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
Her career is very interesting because she takes very unique pictures of famous people, and makes the photo standout.
What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo is probably the Bette Midler photo because its unique because its telling us roses are pretty and she is pretty also.
How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
My favorite photo of Annie Leibovitz demonstrates the roses around her giving her color so it standsout, and uses them in a different perspective.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
I found it interesting that she was a mostly self-taught photographer, and learned from experience. I find this interesting, because she must have grown so much as a photographer, starting with little experience and then transitioning to taking well-planned and thought out photographs.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo was of Nicole Kidman. The angle the camera was set at, the lighting, and all other photographic elements made Nicole seem so powerful and elegant. It was crazy to me how so many emotions could be represented in one photograph.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
The angle the camera was set at made Nicole seem much more powerful, as if she was naturally taller and more bold than everyone else. The lighting highlighted the focal point, however it also added a level of contrast. Nicole also was positioned so she followed the rule of thirds.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
What I found most interesting about Annie Leibovitz's career was that she had to adapt to the introduction of color to photography. When she started shooting, color photographs had not been invented. When color was introduced, Annie had to teach herself how to include elements like lighting and contrast into her photographs.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo was the photo of John Lennon nude curled around Yoko Ono. This is my favorite photo of Annie Leibovitz's because of her creativity shown in the interesting subjects of her photo.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
I feel like this photo has so much meaning to it. Annie captured the strength of their relationship, while highlighting feelings of peace and a strong relationship. This photo makes the viewer feel the bond between the two. Shortly after this photo was taken, John Lennon was killed. This photo is a symbol of the raw pain the world felt when he was killed, and the symbol of peace John and Yoko still stand for today. In the photo, Yoko Ono is wearing dark colors, while John Lennon's skin is bright. This opposite color contrast is engaging in this photograph. The photo's focal point is also right on their bodies. The rule of thirds is also evident in the way that John and Yoko are positioned. Though this photo makes the viewer a little uncomfortable, it is also very hard to look away. Annie's perspective is very unique and the story expressed in this shot is enrapturing.

@Elena D

I like how you mentioned the halo effect surrounding Kidman. Do you think this emphasises Nicole or distracts from her? Great observation and detail explaining the rule of thirds.

@Reagan Lewis

I agree with you about how Annie Leibovitz created her own career. How do you think this affects her photography? I also like how you mentioned her career growing and changing as photography evolves.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
It's interesting that Annie didn't even discover her love for photography until she was in college, and then changed her major from painting to photography. She is well known and very skilled even though she didn't start early like other famous artists.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo is of Martina Navratilova, because I feel that it represents her and her personality less explicitly and more expressively, and it creates somewhat of a story about Navratilova.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
A variety of shapes, lines, and shades of gray filled up the photo, yet they didn't take away from or distract the viewer from the main subject, Navratilova. The use of a black and white filter creates simplicity, but also makes the picture more serious, making Navratilova seem powerful and strong. Martina's skin is lighter than the darker shades of gray given off by all the other material in the photo, making her stand out even more.

@Rowan T

I agree with you on the fact that the photo demonstrates a strong bond between John Lennon and Yoko Ono. It definitely sent out a deeper meaning to its audience.

@Josie T
I think it's cool that you were able to identify the humor in the Whoopi Goldberg photo. Do you think Annie took a photo like this because it represents Whoopi's wacky and humorous personality?

1. I found it interesting that it took Annie so long to discover her love for photography; most people find what they love doing earlier in life.

2. I favorite photo is Martina Navratilova because I really feel like it represents er personality well and expresses many qualities about herself.

3. There are many shapes of different sizes, lines, and different shades of colors in the photo, but all of these things don't draw you away from the image, they instead help you understand the photo even more.

@Amelia S

I completely agree with you about how Martina Navratilova represents Annie's personality well!

@ Rowan T

I agree with your first answer about how she had to adapt with color being newly introduced to her.

What do you find most interesting about her career?

I find it interesting that it took her only 2 years to land a position as chief photographer for Rolling Stones and she wasn't taught anything in school about lighting because at the time they had just come out with colored images, so she taught herself how to do colored images.

What is your favorite photo and why?

I like the image of Susan Sontag because black and white images, to me, make things a little more dramatic and interesting to look at and I really like something about them.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?

It demonstrates expressive features and perspective because she looks tired, like she's worked for many years, and the background almost gives the impression that she's worked on a farm. It looks like there's fields of wheat in the distance behind her. Of course, I can't be too sure because its blurred in the distance and in black and white.

What I found interesting about her career was that she was a painter and ended up developing a liking for photography. Then, through that she is one of the biggest photographers that you can ever find which shows you not to give up on your dreams and if you really want something you will not give up on it.

My favorite photo of hers is Johnny Depp sitting in a chair in a messy room. I think it has a really bad donkey vibe to it and it has a darker tone to it too.

I think the expressive features such as the lighting and the colors he has on with the yellow in the background really express how dark of a photo it is and who he is as a person and the characters her portrays in most of his movies.

The photo uses black and white to show the older technology and it gives you an older perspective of the photo.

2. My favorite photo was of Nicole Kidman because the bright colors and the bold mood drew my attention to the photo.

@Lucy C Photography I agree with you that the roses in the picture makes Bette Midler stand out more.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
~I think it's interesting how Annie Leibovitz didn't start her life intending to be a photographer. Through different life experiences and different locations, she was able to find her passion, photography. Even after she put effort into learning how to take photos technology advanced and she had to adapt again.

What is your favorite photo and why?
~Out of the different photos I've seen of Leibovitz, the twelfth one was my favorite (with Nicole Kidman and the big dress). Most of these pictures are fairly simplistic which really enjoy. They show the "raw" parts of people without fancy additions (if that makes any sense). But, this photo is a little bit different, there's more going on. The lighting, delicate setting, and fun dress.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
~The angle of this photo makes the viewer look up to the subject like we idolize them. This is an interestingly subtle angle but still has a purpose. The backlighting gives the subject a very precise silhouette which helps guide the eye to her. The lighting also highlights the texture of the bottom of the dress. The material is really fluffy and is also illuminating on the top from the lights which make it look like a cloud (not a technical comment, just something I noticed).

Nicole Mendy: I also thought that it was really cool/interesting how Leibovitz was able to be successful in her field so quickly also how she adapted to advancing technology quickly.

Sascha E: I agree, this photo Leibovitz does an excellent job at capturing diverse shapes and lines without distracting the viewers.

What do you find most interesting about her career?
She started her career so young. She got to photograph so many famous people at such a young age, and she did such a fantastic job.

What is your favorite photo and why?
My favorite photo is the first one where the lady is in the pile of roses. The roses make the main subject stand out.

How does your favorite Annie Leibovitz photo demonstrate expressive features and perspective?
It is very busy and yet it still manages to send your eye to the subject and it draws out her beauty.

@Garrett H I agree that in that photo Leibovitz used the lighting in a fantastic way to bring out the subjects confidence.

@Nicole Mendy I agree that it is amazing how fast she learned her profession and how she taught herself to do things better than many other people.
